Dr. Heidi von Korff

PhD, Stanford University
D.Eng., M.Eng., LEED AP BD+C

My research is focused on the peak impacts to the distribution
grid for Net Zero Energy and All-Electric communities.  Systems engineering for load optimization and controls.

My PhD is in Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) and the Department of Management, Science, and Engineering (MS&E) at Stanford University.  My research focuses on distributed generation technologies in advanced energy communities for understanding the peak impacts of renewable energy on the distribution grid.

I was an integral team member for the Department of Energy’s Solar Decathlon project for Stanford, where we built a 1,000 sq. ft. zero net energy home.   Helped with both the design and business parts of the project.

Other service member activities I am involved in is Stanford Energy Club, American Society of Civil Engineers, Society of Women Engineers, USGBC Northern California Chapter, and ASHRAE Golden Gate Chapter.

I have a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.), Engineer degree (D.Eng.) from Stanford University, and a Masters in Civil Engineering with a MBA emphasis from Vanderbilt University.  Also, a graduate from Florida Atlantic University with a Bachelors of Science degree in Civil Engineering, where I earned and played Division 1 golf for four years on scholarship.  In addition, a member of the Stanford Club Golf Team.

I am a registered LEED Accredited Professional with a specialization in Building Design and Construction (LEED AP BD+C) since 2005.  I have worked on numerous LEED New Construction and Existing Building registered projects throughout California, Florida, and the United States.  My passion for sustainability and green building stems from my undergraduate senior design project of designing a new School of Engineering building with green design as the core concept.  Integrating innovation, creativity, and engineering as a design approach to green buildings.
